The week opens with Indian Game Show with Bharti and Harssh. Urban Asian’s August 5 report, based on Sony Entertainment Television launch material, says the celebrity game format premieres Monday, August 24 on Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV. The programme reunites Bharti Singh and Harssh Limbachiyaa as co-hosts and is built around oversized games, obstacle-style challenges and celebrity participation rather than a conventional quiz structure.

  • Urban Asian reported from Sony Entertainment Television’s launch material that Indian Game Show with Bharti and Harssh premieres August 24 on Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV.
  • Netflix officially says the feature-length grand finale of One Hundred Years of Solitude premieres on August 26.
  • Netflix officially announced that the Hindi family comedy Chumbak premieres worldwide on August 28.
  • The Times of India reported on August 23 that the Tamil film Anbe Diana will begin streaming on SonyLIV on August 28, citing the team’s release update.
  • India Today’s archived 2022 coverage confirms Maharani Season 2 premiered on SonyLIV on August 25, 2022, so it does not belong in a 2026 new-release guide.

For an OTT guide, the useful detail is availability: SonyLIV makes the show part of the streaming week even though it is also a linear television launch. That hybrid release is increasingly common for Indian entertainment formats, so viewers building a digital watchlist should not limit themselves to titles marketed only as “web series.”

What arrives in the middle of the week?

Netflix’s most clearly verified midweek event is the grand finale of One Hundred Years of Solitude on August 26. Netflix’s own newsroom says Part Two began on August 5 with seven episodes and that the adaptation closes with a special, near-feature-length final instalment directed by Laura Mora. Because that date comes directly from Netflix, it is stronger than third-party calendar aggregation.

The finale also gives the week a major international prestige title alongside Indian launches. Netflix Tudum repeats the August 26 date and describes the episode as the conclusion to the Buendía family and Macondo story. If you have not watched Part Two’s first seven episodes, this is less a standalone premiere than a scheduled endpoint to a season already in progress.

Which Indian titles land on August 28?

August 28 is the strongest verified Indian streaming date in this guide. Netflix officially announced Chumbak for that Friday, describing Aatish Kapadia and JD Majethia’s Hindi series as a multi-generational neighbourhood comedy led by an ensemble including Neena Gupta, Deven Bhojani, Manasi Parekh, Sumeet Vyas and others. The platform’s own India title page also lists the 2026 comedy.

On SonyLIV, The Times of India reported on August 23 that Anbe Diana will premiere August 28. The Tamil romantic comedy stars Pari Elavazhagan and Ramya Ranganathan, with Chetan and Roja Selvamani among the supporting cast mentioned by the outlet. That gives Friday two very different Indian options: a Hindi ensemble sitcom built around neighbours and a Tamil relationship comedy moving from theatres to streaming.

Why is Maharani 2 missing from this 2026 list?

Because the date being recirculated belongs to 2022. India Today’s August 1, 2022 trailer report states that Maharani Season 2, starring Huma Qureshi and Sohum Shah, was scheduled to premiere on SonyLIV on August 25 of that year. SonyLIV’s current page describes the season as streaming now, not as a new 2026 launch.

That correction is exactly why a short verified guide is more useful than a padded one. Release calendars frequently recycle old date strings when a title resurfaces in search, and the risk is highest around annual dates such as August 25 or August 28. For the week ahead, the clean watchlist is Indian Game Show on August 24, the One Hundred Years of Solitude finale on August 26, and Chumbak plus Anbe Diana on August 28.
