The team’s statement

“Nushrratt Bharuccha, who was in Bali for a work-cum-holiday trip, met with an unfortunate accident and suffered a fracture in her spine,” the statement read, as reported by Bollywood Hungama. “She is currently hospitalised in Bali and remains under medical observation. Following further evaluation by the doctors, Nushrratt will be undergoing spine surgery.”

The statement continued: “At present, our immediate priority is her health and ensuring she receives the necessary medical care. We are currently making arrangements to bring Nushrratt back to Mumbai from Bali via an air ambulance, where she will undergo the surgery. Given the nature of the injury and the surgery, Nushrratt will need time to rest and recover, and her work commitments over the next few weeks are likely to be affected.”

It closed with a request for privacy: “We request everyone to respect her privacy at this time and allow her the space to focus on her treatment and recovery. We are grateful for everyone’s concern and good wishes and will share further updates as and when appropriate.”

From Bali to Mumbai

The Indian Express reported that Nushrratt had extended her stay in Bali after the accident, and that early reports of her hospitalisation did not specify the nature of the injury. The statement, IE noted, did not disclose how the accident happened or exactly when she would return. By Friday evening, Hindustan Times reported, she had been transferred to Mumbai and taken into hospital, where her publicist said she will undergo spine surgery.

A week before the accident, the actor had posted holiday photographs from a beach with the caption “Holiday on my mind! Where do I head out to now?”, according to both Hindustan Times and The Indian Express.

What it means for her upcoming work

The injury comes shortly after reports that Nushrratt had joined the cast of an action film directed by Remo D’Souza and starring Tiger Shroff, which would be their first on-screen collaboration. Bollywood Hungama reported that the project also features Pashmina Roshan, Elvish Yadav and Abhishek Banerjee, while Hindustan Times said it marks Vicky Jain’s debut as a producer under his new banner, VJ Frames. A source quoted by Pinkvilla and cited by both IE and HT said the makers wanted “someone who could bring both strength and emotional depth to the story”.

Her team has said plainly that commitments over the coming weeks are likely to be affected. HT noted she was last seen alongside Sohum Shah in the comedy thriller Ufff Yeh Siyapaa, and that her career, which began in television before her film debut in Jai Santoshi Maa in 2006, took off with Love Sex Aur Dhokha, Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.

Beyond the confirmation of a spinal fracture and planned surgery, no medical detail has been released. Her team has said further updates will come when appropriate.
